Skirting and architrave angles

Hi,

I took the plunge of replacing the skirting and architrave in my house myself. The first time I have carried out such a project. Until now all angles have been 90ish internal and external corners.

How do I fit the skirting board to the architrave in this angle?!

Albeit a different design both skirting and architrave are the same size as the old stuff taken off. When taking the old stuff off here I don't recall there being anything special about it but I didn't pay much attention to how it was fitted. I wish I had!

The second photo is just me messing with off cuts trying to find a solution!

I have an electronic angle finder but wasn't to hand last time I did this.

Take a piece of paper A4 sort of size, hold the middle of the long edge into the angle with half the edge along the wall. Crease the other side to the suit the wall. Take the paper and fold it to bring your new fold to the unfolded edge. This halves the angle and you can just pop the paper onto your mitre saw to set the angle.

Works great as Norm was wont to say and if it's a critical cut then do a couple of bits of scrap as a sample and tweak.

In the real world if you're painting the skrts then caulk is your bestie!

I'd aim for giving the appearance of the two boards merging into each other.
