Hi all

Renovating our first house slowly. Neither of us any good at any forms of DIY

Had a room rewired as plug sockets were still the originals which meant the deep shirting boards needed to come off.....
What we are left with is holes! How can they be re fitted once the plastering is done?

When the plasterers came to quote they only mentioned going an inch below where the skirting starts, so the rest of the wall will still be visible?

One side it's brick that the skirts were drilling into, two sides it's like small planks of wood which are all old, split and missing in some places.....

Help!

looks like the internal walls are lathe and plaster .personally I wouldn’t skim over it....they shoud fill the bottoms/voids in down to within 2” of the floor and it should look completely seamless so you can bond your new skirtings easily at the end.
if they refuse , get someone else. that will also allow you yo install a more shallow skirting should you wish.
you may need to target a general builder rather than a ‘plasterer’.
tip:- ask them how they’ll prepare the existing wall and how many coats of plaster it will have.
