Skirting Board

I am fitting some 8 inch deep skirting board and it has warped (across the width) slightly in storage. Can I cut grooves in the reverse side and then pull it back into true with the fixings? It has a plain back (not shaped each side).

yes you can cut grooves if you dont think it wont pull back with fixing

80% depth and about an inch apart

but personaly i would take it back as it not fit for purpose

Thanks for that. Not there fault though as it has been in my garage for almost a year now :) It is only slight but enough to affect the joint at the external corners. I will be scribing the internals so they may not be such a problem.
