Hi everyone, i am completely new to this forum. I wonder anyone could help with my problem. I have skoda fabia 2004 registered. when try to open with central locking or with key passenger side front door doesn't open. ocasionally it will open when you try many times but these not able to open at all. Knob on the door permanately remains locked. I unable to open the door panel as well to have a look. any help? many thanks in advance.

Presumably you can open the door by using the inside handle?
If so, the fault is likely to be in the door locking motor (quite common on the Fabia, especially the boot one).
The motor can be accessed by removing the door card - which is one hell of a tight fit. Anyway, the door arm rest needs to come off, and I think there is a screw behind the pull handle.
With these out of the way, the rest of the door card is held on by poppers, which always break when you prise the card away (start at the bottom, and use a wide plastic blade to help ease things).
If the door internals aren't visible now, maybe there is a steel plate rivetted on? Unfortunately the rivets have to be drilled out to remove this.
John :)

Thank you John. the door doesn't open even with the inside handle. i hope even with this, the fault lies in locking motor. many thanks.

Hmm thats a bit naughtier than I thought....it could be a linkage has come adrift but more likely its the lock itself.
Before you bash on, try to hunt down a VAG independant specialist who has probably seen this before and can advise you better than me.
If, in the meantime you can get the door open - keep it that way! Avoids certain door card carnage.
John :)

Might be worth winding down the window and helping the button/knob up, as you try to unlock the door.

Try thumping the door lightly with your hand near the lock area inside as you operate the central locking, vw locking motors suffer with bad soldered joints on the connections. Sometimes this works and may help you to get the door open, it did on my passat
