Hello. I am going to have a go at laying a few slabs longways but have never done it before. I sort of know what I need but with all these different products, it's a bit confusing.

I know i need a sub-base and will be using wickes, in small bag. Next I need sharp sand don't I? for the top layer. But what do I use after that?

Do I use cement and sharp sand or ballast?

I had a look in wicks today and see they have Slablayer http://www.wickes.co.uk/Slablayer/invt/153707?tapopen=cm

Is this anygood? as it looks much more easy to do. Thanks.

sub-base of mot type1

then lay the slabs on a wet bed of mortar, in the same way you would lay bricks.

So are you saying lay the cement on top of the sharp sand?

Thermo is that Slablayer no good then? Pluis what do I use for cement out of that list I said before?

I had been advised not to use Builders sand.
