slate for packing rsj

Hi building control are happy for me use slate to pack above my rsj.
What kind of slate should I be using and where from cheers guys.

There is only one kind of slate, and that is slate. Roofing merchants sell it normally
 
Use fibre cement slates. These are produced under immense pressure and have a crushing strength of a trillion tonnes.

But you can't hammer pieces in to wedge the bricks - they are just one thickness and the fibre slates just crumble when hammered.
