Currently re-roofing my slate roof. Most the slates required replacement and I therefore have a load of old broken slates.

I am also going to be refurbishing the gardens. Is this slate any good for either:

1. Garden - Broken / crushed for laying in the front garden of a teraced house (approx 2m x 4m) instead of pebbles?

2. Patio - Broken slates as hardcore? under a patio?

Thanks for any advice.

1) Yes no probs.

2) No, too soft.
