Hello all, I have a sliding patio door on the back of the house, as far as I can see it has anti lift devices fitted but what else would you good people recommend for extra security?

Depends on the level of security you need and what you can live with aesthetically.

One option is the classic collapsible-type lattice gate that you can slide out of view when not in use - i.e. behind the curtains. Lift-up track or hinge aside options, whereby the closed bunched gate swings out of the way, could be options.

Another option would be a roller shutter, either fitted internally or externally. These are available in loads of different styles to suit the purpose.

Depending on how handy you are it's possible to fit both these options yourself, though it's probably worth getting a specialist installer in. There are quite a few different suppliers you can go to but like anything else they're not all the same quality - look for 'Secured by Design' and LPCB approved products because these will have been independently tested. For the gates I'd recommend someone like Trellidoor or SWS UK. For shutters SWS UK (www.sws.co.uk), who do the insulated aluminum security shutters.

Failing that a big dog always works well. ;)
