I have a slight bent in my hilmor former. the Lip at the end of the former has slightly bent over. So now marks the pipe. Is it ok the.file/sand this mark off the former. To stop it doing.this

Thanks that sorted it. However the hock is slightly digging in. I have pu
Some tape on to the hock to cure it temporary. Any ideas??

Thanks the hook yeah. It's a newish bender 6 months old, so strange it has started doing this

Are you pushing the guide far enough back towards the hook?
Is the hook lying flat against pipe as you apply pressure?
Is it happening on both 15 & 22?
Have you given the guides and plates a good clean?
Have you changed pipe supplier?
Try adjusting position of guide(s) and hook and see if things get better or worse!

It is a bit strange, Hilmor (Irwin) usually have a very good rep. They do have a load of spares so if needed you can replace the guides/formers and hook.
Are you doing anything unusual with them though? Jerking/snatching when pulling your bends can sometimes cause strange wear on benders. If not then they'll be guaranteed if only 6months old, get them in and change them.

Just on 15mm I have traced.it to abit of a uneven ness on the middle of the 15mm hook. Poor workmanship?

Strange you say that, I have been working in partnership with another plumber these last 6months, the last pair I had for a fair few years no problem.

If it's the centre press forge mark where it hasn't been buffed out properly, it's down to poor finishing. Not something you usually hear about Irwin. Either change them or just buff it smooth (y)

Thanks or I could take the hook off my old.irwins. what would be best to buff it smooth with?
