A dimmer switch has failed and doesn't appear repairable. Since it was made by Crabtree I bought what I thought would be a one-for-one replacement.
However, the rectangular box of tricks on the back of the switch is deeper by a few mms and the wires go in via the back rather than the short side.
This means that the new part won't fit since it hits the back of the shallow box fitted flush into the wall. I could replace the box with a deeper one but the wall around it is freshly wallpapered so avoiding a mess might be a good idea.
So: does anybody know if there is a single port (1way) dimmer that is very shallow? BTW it's in polished brass,
