Slot Fence

Hi

I have a 6ft slot fence with 1 inch gap between the slots.

Last year I had nailed weed fabric control to a section of it with trellis over the joints just to keep a bit of privacy. The fabric with weather became hard and broke now has to be replaced which is not expensive but I was wondering is there any better method as opposed to this??

What about either bamboo or reed screening?
It comes on a roll and can be cut and stapled to the fence?

either thicker screening , or reboard over each of the gaps or board the whole lot in featheredge for a long term fix.
