I found an NRS healthcare hand foot switch, but it is out of stock until mid July:

But on CPC Farnell's website, I found an extension lead with a flying lead push switch:

I only need one outlet, but this seems like less faff to buy a ready made item.

Ah ... prompted by those, I've discovered that if one does a Google search for "hand mains switch" or "foot mains switch" (or similar things) (without the quotes), there seem to quite a lot out there.
