Hi all,

I have a few sets of mostly meross smart plugs, which I manage for the most part through Alexa with routines. All works fine.

But I now want one of those smart plugs, plugged into a Hornby train set around the Christmas tree, to turn on and off periodically via a routine.

The only obvious way to do it, which seems excessive to set up, is to set it to turn on at a time, then off say 10 minutes later. Then on again 20 minutes later, then off 10 minutes, etc etc. I could do that with schedules, but it becomes a very long list of on/off routines very quickly. But having had a hunt around, I can't see anything that suggests an alternative way of setting something like this up.

Does anyone have any ideas of how best to do this, either via Alexa or via some other home automation kit?

Thanks
Steve

Yeah. What's your point?
you said make it on a computer and then transfer to a pi...which I said is a computer...so your point was to make it on a computer and then make it on another computer..doing the same thing over again!
I did not understand the logic of doing it twice so pointed out the contradiction of your statement on the basis that you did not consider the SBC to be a computer...If you did know that then why would you suggest doing it twice?
