There is a smell of rotten eggs coming from the bottom drainer of our Bosch Exxcel 1200 Express washing machine. we frequently empty the drainer but it makes no difference. We use an eco friendly powder called Ecover - could this be the problem?
Partly - check out posts on this forum ad nauseam about smelly washing machines and potential remedies for them. Un-green detergents have chemicals in them (eg bleachers) that will help deter mould forming. It's smelly bacteria colonising the mould that cause the whiff.
Short cycle washes, low temp washes and liquid detergents are all culprits.
Check out "similar topics" at the bottom of your post for remedies.
I have always found that w/machines with the drain hose connected to the waste via a spigot on the kitchen sink P-trap, tend to pong of whatever nasties lurk in the trap (regardless of the diaphragm that is supposed to prevent this).
If your's is connected like this - fit a stand pipe, I did, the difference it made to the freshness of each load was appreciable.
