Hi all, I'm finally replacing my old brk 86 RAC smoke alarms with some aico ones, but using the old brk cable to understand where things go as that's still connected to the block with the orange part being the interconnect.

I have 1 X upstairs and 1 x downstairs to replace that should be on its own circuit.

The upstairs one looks straightforward with grey wire going to the interconnect, and black to the neutral, and of course the brown to live.

However, the downstairs one confuses me. Looks like it has 2 brown earth's going into single conectet block...ok. but there is a grey cable with brown covering presumably for the IC.

However it has a black and blue cable going into a single port in the connector block for the neutral. Is that bit normal as this is what is confusing me.

When I detach these ones I just need to basically use what's already been done as the guide and connect them as they arenow just into the new alarms?

Looks normal to me

One twin and one 3 core in the one, and one 3 core in the other?

Obviously the connector block broke, so they used a separate one...by the looks of it

What should be on its own circuit?

2 brown earths? There’s x2 lives, 2 neutrals, possibly 2 cpc (circuit protective conductor- earth) and switch live IC (hence the brown sleeving)

Looks like 2 neutrals

Yes, just follow Aico’s wiring guide/terminals

What connectors have been used in the past for the obsolete alarms is irrelevant - they are all going to be removed and disposed of.
