So about those tariffs...

Example 2:
Yes sir the price has gone up up because we had to add $20k import tax
Should be straight forward if the receipt of purchase shows clearly how much tarrif tax was paid.
A bit like the credit card payment protection insurance refunds,.
No win, no fee lawyers will be on to this.

Trump hornsmokers can't get enough of him...
The followers of the orange rapist will no doubt still try and convince us he's a 'good bloke' despite his latest random announcement of a 15% 'global tariff'...

Just like the 'man in the pub', both intent on chaos and ruin in their own interests!

Fact is that it’s possible that the supremes court intervention could ? Has ? Made things worse ?? For The UK

Companies attempting to get money back could find themselves in litigation for years ??

Plus the deal starmer did with trump could end up down the toilet with the UKs tariffs going up

Bussiness uncertainty

Etc etc

They’re used to it.

**ck Trump. His tenure will end.
Bussiness uncertainty
That’s what you end up with, when a power crazed rapist is allowed to run a country.

In the short term, probably. We may pay a higher tariff. And then there is the uncertainty.

But it's probably welcome overall. It stops Trump targeting individual countries with massive tariffs every time he has a hissy fit.

It's also really funny to see Trump so angry. The Supremes have stopped him playing with his favourite toy.

I think so too.

I've been thinking about this a bit more. I was working on the basis that no retailer would actually put the tariff on the receipt. But I have been reading that a small minority of niche retailers have been doing that.

So, I thought it would be interesting to discuss what the potential cause of action would be if the same thing happened in the UK. Would we be looking at misrepresentation of some sort.

CEO interviewed on the news this afternoon has said that they have had to engage specialist consultants at considerable expense in order to navigate the rules on the fist set of tarrifs let alone this recent change
All at considerable (?) expense ??

Said it could take up to 2 years of litigation attempting to get any money back if they even succeed ???

Think a figure of 76 billion dollars was mentioned as to how much the US have raked in since this tariff caper kicked off ???

Still too early to say how the tariff will affect the US economy as a whole. $287 billion collected in taxes and duties last year which is a 200% increase on the year before. That's almost an extra $200 billion for the govt to play with. Trade deficit is down, prices are up but not as much as most people expected. Trumps got a bit too erratic with the tariff levels using them as a weapon against certain countries, much like us, the EU et al have had to do with China.
If it settles down it might prove to be a good thing and no doubt we will follow.

More like $130 billion from these particular tariffs.

Trump also increased some other tariffs under different provisions. And there were other longstanding tariffs.

All told, USA brought in $260 billion in tariffs since Trump came to power.

Trump likes to boast about all this tarrif income as if the US is 260 billion richer than it would have been without the tarrifs.
He doesn't mention that this 260 billion is ultimately paid by the American consumer, in effect its just another indirect tax on American citizens.
