Socket with high Zs. Can anyone help?

I'm still on that periodic at the moment, and I came across a socket today which had a Zs reading of 24.2Ω

The Zdb reading was 0.03Ω and the socket is only about 6 meters away from the DB. The conduit is the CPC.

Any ideas?

the running coupler may have worked loose, give it a tweak and lock it off again and see if that makes a difference..

I've seen a higher resistance on conduit that looked no where near as bad as that... granted though I picked it up with the low ohms meter rather then the loop tester, so that might have some bearing on the actual reading given that the earth path was unsound...

Did you pull those fuses Rob?

Anything with asbestos content goes down as a limitation in my book as far as pulling the fuse is concerned

No! Put it as a lim, and it's all been noted on page 2 of the PIR (well page 8 actually )

It would seem the top rail in that DB was for the neutral fuses, and someone has bodged the circuit neutrals onto the nuetral busbar behind the ceramic holders!

Didn't probe too far as the DB is fed from an oil CB which also feeds another couple of DBs in the mill.

We generally use a word document to accompany the PIR forms, which covers defects and general summery, and when there is a lot of them, limitations...


I've had this document grow to 80pages long before

just run a seperate CPC in the conduit and wipe it up a bit with some wire wool.
