With the view of installing a new electric hob and single oven can they be connected in series or must it be parallel from the control socket?

Also does the control socket have to be exposed or can it be located in a cupboard?

If you connected them in series it would be 120V each and very slow cooking. I do not think you meant that.

It would be better to have a separate control switch for each. What are the power requirements for each, and what supply are you thinking of connecting them to?

You should find lots of old posts discussing this sometimes contentious question.

What size hob and oven.?

Does the control socket have to be exposed or can it be located in a cupboard

This can be in the cupboard, but it would be best to have 1 for the hob above worktop level, and one for the oven maybe in the cupboard, or next to the oven.

If there was a problem, would you really want to be trying to get into the cupboard to turn it off.?

Each item of fixed equipment should be on it's own isolator.

Whilst some installers do put isolators in cupboards, this is not ideal, they should be readily available in an emergency.

The Oven could be connected via single gang, unswitched 13A socket via a fused spur above the worktop, this could come from the kitchen ring, but would be better on it's own radial.

The Hob is a different prospect all-together, the potential load that can draw means it MUST go on it's own circuit and be protected by an appropriate Isolator and MCB...ideally an RCBO to ensure safety.
