hi guys ive just found the site and you seem a helpfull lot on here :)
ive just pulled out my old electric cooker which was wired direct into the old 30 amp socket .ive got a new go under single oven fitted with a 13amp plug and a gas hob also with with a 13amp plug .as the new cooker goes under the worktop and the old cooker socket is 2ft above the worktop is it possible to bring a cable down from the old cooker socket to a double socket for the new cooker and hob .thanks in advance .

Was the cooker wired directly into the cooker panel or was it into a cooker outlet plate lower down? If so then replace the outlet plate for a twin socket. I presume the plug on the hob is only for an ignitor spark. If you need to wire a socket from the cooker panel this is fine as long as you wire it in 6.0mm2 cable.

hell that was quick :) thanks rob .
yes the plug on hob is for the spark only .
yes the old cooker was wired into the cooker panel ?

You should be able to wire a twin socket off the cooker panel. Make sure you use 6.0mm2 cable, then you won't need to change any fuse ratings in your fuse box. If you connect the new socket to the 'load' connections on your existing cooker panel then you will be able to switch the oven and hob off at the cooker panel, should you ever need to.
