Why are there Double Pole and Single Pole switched sockets?

What's the point of paying more for a Double Pole Switch Socket as opposed to a single pole one?
 
single pole only breaks live, double pole breaks live and neutral
 
You might want to break live and neutral with a switch if you can't unplug it. An electric shower, for instance.
