Soffit Vent Position

Having just had my roof tiles replaced including the installation of breathable underlay, I would like to install more soffit vents as I only currently have them at the rear of my property. I am going to use a number of the small round vents that can easily be installed.

At the front of my house the soffit is quite deep and I am trying to ascertain whether the position of the round vent should be equidistance from the house wall and fascia or should they be closer to the house or further away? I am probably overthinking it but looking for advice.

I have attached a photo of the depth of depth of the soffit.

You have breathable underlay, you don't need soffit vents.

OFVs are great in theory however, I have become not a fan as I have an issue where I have a dead air gap behind them. So air is being sucked in but just hanging out behind the vent and very little going up into the loft. From a previous issue, I also have circular soffit baffles dotted around my house and am getting air intake from them without a problem (it isnt insulation blocking - I have a roll ventilation tray installed and found this by doing a smoke stick test).

My roofer is at a loss as to what could be causing the issue. I have suggested we try and figure this out together (wondering if eaves protector and roll ventilation aren't aligned quite right) or that we cut out the soffits (and install continuous somehow).

OP, my circular soffits are in the middle of the soffit board. No issues (I just don't have enough for proper ventilation in my house). Just make sure you keep your insulation away with a rafter tray.
