Hi all. Does anyone know where (if) I can get hold of a soft close damper (not full hinge) which is 25mm or shorter? I need to fit one in a tiny gap, and the smallest I can find is a 35mm cylinder with a 47mm mounting adapter. Thanks!

Tell us more about what you are doing, and post some pics.

You can drill the jamb and insert the buffer cylinder.

Sounds to me like you might be talking about a kitchen cabinet.

Alas, not that simple! I'm trying to slow down the last 20% of downward travel on a glass worktop in a campervan. The gas strut slows it to begin with, then drops it at the end. I was hoping to put a damper on the RHS of this picture, tucked in the corner. The gap from the edge of the sink to the lip on which the glass rests is 25mm.

Yep - post on VW forum confirms the action is the same for everyone, including new vans.

Unfortunately what I didn't show in the picture is a catch in the middle of the front edge of the glass, to hold it down whilst travelling. This means that the glass must come down to contact the front edge - any grommet or bump stop which stood proud would prevent the lid going down far enough for the catch to engage. So I need a solution that catches the glass but then discreetly moves itself out of the way entirely. I considered felt along the front edge to begin with, but even that simply doesn't compress enough to let the catch catch (!).
