Hi
the problem is that occasionally the toilet will 'gurgle' or water will come up through the plughole in the bath (on a couple of occassions foam has overflowed from the toilet), and it'll sometimes be extremely slow for the toilet to clear (i.e. flush it and it almost floods).
The soil stack runs vertically down and then apparently below the flat it turns at right angles, and then turns again after that. So it has been suggested that the blockage is occuring at that bend and waste backs up until the pressure is sufficient to clear it.
Any ideas how to solve this? It has been suggested that some sort of vent (to allow air out) in the flat would perhaps do the trick, and failing that major alterations.
Also - does anyone know the NHBC Standards on the drainage system and know if it's at all likely that such an issue would be a breach at all (with regards to the 3-10 years of their warranty)
Thanks in advance,
and thanks for reading.
