soldering near other joints

how close is can you solder a new joint next to a excsiting one,without fear of melting the solder on the joint.

It depends....but it wouldn't normally matter anyway. The adjacent joint solder would melt and then reset - so what?
 
thought simialr,was not that sure though,cheers
 
if its a water pipe with water in it wont unsolder if its gas its GOODBYE!

pipework is empty of water at the moment,the joint is about 2-3 inches away form where i need to make the new joint, so i guess it will be fine if it does melt again as it will harden back up
