I'm planning on installing some solid wood parquet flooring. The room is 3.5m x 4m. Wood size is 15mm x 600mm x 90mm and wil be acclimatised first for a week in the room. I'm installing over existing floorboards which are flat. It is a ground floor with a void under the foorboards and some fibre glass insulation underneath it.
My plan is to undercut the existing skirting boards with a multitool, I am screwing down the planks with secret screws:
I was thinking 3 screws per plank. I am putting down Duralay Timbermate over the existing planks. Then I plan to border the room with a single plank thick frame, leaving expansion gap of 1cm. Then fill in the middle with my parquet pattern.
I have done several wood floors over the years so happy with diy. Any advice on my plans? Am I making any howlers.
Thanks
Dan
