soound proof regs for ceilings nd floors when what year ?

hi thinking of buying a flat and have been looking round at some conversions and my question is what year did they bring in sound proof regs for ceiling and floors? as ive looked at a couple of flats done ages ago with no soundproofing what so ever, i would like to know the year they started the soundproof regs so i can determine if the next flat i look at would or should have soundproofing, and if the flat has had sound proofing would there be paperwork ? cheers

The regs for this have been around for many years but that means very little.
Early regs stipulated constructions for party walls and floors which would be deemed acceptable, but even small discrepancies in workmanship could completely compromise insulation.

New-builds and flat conversions in older houses are required nowadays to have sound testing done, but even this is no guarantee. In a multiple conversion, for example, the BC body may only have required one sample test, which doesn't necessarily mean the other flats in the block comply.

Sound transmission is also very subjective. It's the luck of the draw as to whether or not you get a well-insulated place.
