Hi,

I'm thinking of soundproofing my walls shared with my neighbour, the walls transmit a lot of sounds from next door , not the neighbours fault, they are only talking at a normal level and I can hear every word, the wall is made from cinderbloc, I realise completely stopping all sound is unrealistic, I'm just looking to improve it, because of the space factor i was going to fix wooden batons on the wall, a layer of rockwool between the batons, a layer of acoustic plasterboard, a load of green glue followed another acoustic plaster board, now I picked up on a forum , steel doesn't transmit sound as much as wood, so does anybody know what i could use in the way of steel straight onto the wall, that i can fix plasterboard to ?

Don't fix anything to the wall. That's the last thing you should be doing. there are hundereds of threads on this in the Building section.

Thanks fro replying, bit of a problem with this, I dont have a lot of room to spare, what are the min dimensions I could get away with for a false wall?
