Is there anything in currect building regs, regarding DP or SP sockets on a domestic ring main?

I was picked up on a new-build because I fitted Crabtree SPs. I used them as I had 100 in stock, they look good and they're a good make. The contractor couldn't give me a good reason why I couldn't use them. Not by any regs anyway.
