Space stuff...

Correct. There is a lot of wishful thinking going on here.

Folk have just made a big deal about flying around the Moon. It has taken much planning, great effort, lots of set-backs and all the tech available we have today - to do a moon fly-past.

We are centuries away from putting a man on Mars.
They did it with less tech in the 60s.

They did it with less tech in the 60s.
If you read some of the books about how the Apollo hardware was developed there are so many major difficulties they had to struggle with that could be done with almost off the shelf hardware now.

They did it with less tech in the 60s.
And that's the point I'm making. Bizarrely, you have greater tech/computing power in the latest I Phone than in the tech used in the Apollo landings. And yet all we can do today is a Moon fly past.

The only thing that hasn't changed since then is biology and physics. That's why we are where we are.

I heard an interesting thing a few years ago in response to someone questioning why spend all this money in space. And they were reminded that not one penny was spent in space, it was all spent on earth

Do you think they will be able to modify humans or alter the laws of physics before the human race dies out, in order to travel to the nearest star?

Human beings will not be able to travel those distances. Not even close.
I believe we will, I am sure humans will one day travel to the stars by the way of time warps.
