speedometer cable for '98 megane

Hello,

The speedometer of my Renault megane '98 isn't working. I'm reasonably sure the connection of the cable into the gearbox is at fault.
If so does this have to be replaced in a garage or is it possible to DIY it.

Should be pretty straight forward.
Not sure whether it's a cable on that or whether it will have changed to an electric sensor type jobby on the gearbox?
