Hi
I have built myself a spit roast (rotisserie) out of an old oil drum mounted on a frame with a hinged top.I would now like to motorize it using maybe a washing machine/drier motor to turn the meat automatically to be cooked, also if that is possible how can it be slowed down to maybe 5-10rpms.

Why bother slowing it down? Just add a collector hood for all the fat.

Hi regsmyth
thanks for your info whats a collector hood ? and surely a pig moving at about 600-1200rpms isnt a pretty sight.
louis.

Gear wheel or belt reduction, or a suitably gear equipped motor in the first place.

I came here thinking this topic was about something else...

should be able to slow down the motor.. after all, it goes slowly during the wash cycle and only gets up to 1200 rpm when spinning the water out..
