Have discovered a split T joint on a ~4" lead waste pipe from bath. The access is extremely tight and awkward. The joint has partially split away from the main run and leaks - can it be repaired using a special tape?

you could try "duck tape" but i thought all lead pie was either banned or scrapped

if its lead why not either solder it up or solder a lead patch over the hole.
just clean the area first and use regular flux and solder.
