Split spindle door handles

Hi guys,

Just moved into a new house and my wife is worried I'll leave the front door unlocked (which I probably will). She wants me to replace it with something that will lock itself once closed..

I don't really want to pay for a locksmith or drill holes and retro fit self locking locks .

I wondered whether I could just replace the handles with split spindle ones..

You'll need to know if you have a split spindle mechanism first

I just took the handle off and there are two holes for spindles.. so, yep, think it's fine for a split spindle.. think being the operative word..
