Hi,
Looking for some advice please. I'll try to keep it relatively brief with the aid of some diagrams as I'm hoping it's not a difficult one and is more me just wanting to make sure I've got it correct
I have a loft light which I was hoping to get split to 2 lights. Upon investigating I have found the existing installation is wired with 3 core and earth which I wasn't necessarily expecting (though I understand it's not necessarily a bad thing). With that being less obvious I'd like to check my understanding of the current setup is correct and also of what would need to be done to split it
The current installation is looped in at switch
This is what I expected it to perhaps look like if using twin and earth (NOTE: this is NOT what is in place but I'm just posting for comparison purposes)
But the actual installation uses 3 core and earth and is as follows
Obviously mostly very similar other than the sleeved grey instead of blue, and the additional black
But am I right in thinking that the black here is effectively unused, at least when it goes up to the ceiling rose and is connected to nothing else in the loop terminal?
And if this was to be split into 2 lights which have just L + N + E connectors then does this look correct in terms of what that should look like? Again, it's the black which is throwing me a little but if unused them I'm guessing would just be left terminated by itself as is (obviously in a Wago connector here instead of in the ceiling rose)
Thanks very much for any advice
