After rendering and floating a wall. Do you sponge it to get a smooth finish and at :?: what stage.

rendering is all about timing and this will only come with years of experience. i can wet plaster and skim to an acceptable standard, but rendering finishes are best left to the experts.

the sponge is only used at the very end, long after the float coat has been ruled, darbied, steel and poly floated.

The plasterers/renderers that I have seen only lay on and sponge off, I always put a straight edge on and get it near right but the boys in the know just get on with it .
