Spotlights but no lighting circuit...

I have moved into a house which has a mezzanine level with one room. The room has high vaulted ceilings and there is no lighting circuit but there are 3 double sockets which I am having to plug lamps into. There is no lighting circuit under the floor. It is not possible because of the type of building and where the fuse box is to run a lighting cable.
Instead of lamps I wish to have some single spotlights with LED bulbs fixed onto the beams each side of the room.
The question is- will it be acceptable to run a spur off one of the sockets to a 5amp fused connection unit and then connect the spotlights?
Many thanks in advance.
