Squeaking Door Hinges

Hi,

Daft question but what is the best lubricant for internal squeaking door hinges? Is it just bog standard 3 in 1 oil or are some of the brands with silicone, etc, better?

Also what is best for noisy garage door rails?

3 in 1 with graphite, small amount, garage rails, white grease.

Yep. very small amount required.

dont use "plumbers" silicon grease
i fitted a pair of rising butt hinger for my brother we lubricated them with plumers silicon grease and the hinges where juddering and catching all over the place trying to pull the hinges off the door rather than rotate

cleaned the grease off to allow me to de burr smooth or whatever was causing the problem
hung the door to work out where it was binding and it rotated without a problem



if you have a motorised garage door keep in mind the channels may need to be left grease free if the rubber wheels rely on friction to move the door
