Hi

I’m attempting to fix the squeaky stair issue from underneath the stairs, the house was built in the 80’s and over the last couple of years they have got worse.

I’ve seen a could of bits online but wondered what’s the best way, I was thinking glue round the joins and screw a 2x2 to the underside of the step and riser.

is there a better option?

thanks

Thanks, I’ll order some timber wedges from
Amazon and get them in first, apply some glue and then fit some blocks to brace it

Glues and wooden blocks stuck under joining parts.
Screws can help.
Check bottom tread is sitting on flat floor vs chipped away concrete to allow hashed fitting.

Hi

I’ve had a look at the stairs and looking for more advice.

from the underside the issue seems to be movement between the step and riser, someone has previously attempted to glue and screw but it’s failed, I’ve been able to tap a wedge between the two.

I’ve attached a photo, does anyone have any suggestions?

thanks

Would it be worth adding a supporting timber the width of the step on the underside?
