Stair Case - Alternative to carpet ideas

I live in a fairly modern new build (less than 15 years old) and am looking to replace the carpet on the stairs but as I'm not a big fan of carpets was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what I could replace it with as the stairs appears to have been made from some sort of chipboard so cannot be exposed. Do I have many options available to me or should I stick with carpet as the cheap option.

you can get a very BOSS /Beautiful finish with a wooden finish , like laminate but real wood an matching staircase , .. gorgeous ,will add 25 K on your property (bit noisey if going upstairs in shoes ) 1st impressions

You can get some interesting rubber floorings, mostly for industrial use.

unless you, your family and neighbours are all deaf I would avoid hard finishes.
