General rule with cuts is protect the cut edge-have it next to a wall or another tile rather than being an end. Your pic doesn't show the other side of the skylight but the side shown is a bit poo, careful setting-out can often avoid nasty L shaped cuts like that
Thanks oldbutnotdead, we've now had a second opinion and our concerns were indeed founded; the wrong tiles, window flashing and lead flashing have been used, and there are potential structural concerns too. Suffice to say the entire thing will be being redone by another individual with adequate skill and experience!

With interlocking tiles you're governed by the watercheck regarding what side you cut
