What is the legal basis. Is it that the tax isn't legal until a new council is voted in.
Yes. No taxation without representation.

Some Reform supporters do care when someone highlights Farage is a Putin admiring traitor, or that he's corrupt. The two posts above are really interesting, in a way you didn't intend. I find it amusing and revealing that the disciples of Starmer actually feel personally hurt by an insult aimed at their glorious leader.
Reform supporters just don't care what anyone says about Farage, they'll probably laugh along with you. He's a bloke who wants to be PM whose views mostly align with a vast chunk of the free-thinking population. That is it, the end.
Something's gone on with the left in the last decade or so. They must have been employing religious cult mind control techniques, to get the sort of brain-dead unquestioning following that they do from their supporters.
Weird.

It's true though. It's wearing very thin now Notch!

Reform supporters are not free thinkers, they'll religiously believe any old garbage Farage spouts. Reform is a Farage cult.
Some desperate barrel-scraping in that video!

I'd be very wary of anyone promising to look after everyone's money for them in some sort of "escrow" service! There is talk about council tax payers in these affected areas withholding their payments, and putting them in "escrow" accounts until the elections are restored.
I wonder if there is any mileage in this or any precedents?
Don't tell me you have forgotten about Brexit already?Reform voters are hopefully not as silly as many are.
Reform councils won't be chasing any money, as they've all been legitimately elected. There won't be any protests in their areas. It was Thatcher that surcharged councillors who didn’t set the rates, you can expect re form run Councils to chase every pound that’s owing.

Councils granted flexibility to finish reorganisation
This once-in-a-generation reform will end the outdated two-tier system and build stronger local councils.

The obligation to pay and the right to enforce payment doesn’t seem to rely on the legitimacy of the councillors. What is the legal basis. Is it that the tax isn't legal until a new council is voted in.
