Looking for some advice we are about to have two columns installed on the back of our house to support a goal post steel across the top the structural engineer has stated "
(i) 2 No. 215mm SQ. x 1500mm LONG CONCRETE LINTELS BEDDED INTO EXISTING SUBSTRUCTURE
MASONRY" are both these lintels to be bedded onto the existing footings? I.e. inline with where the current wall is? If so if it a matter of bedding them on to the foundation with Mortar. The current foundation top is some 950mm down from dpc. Once these are installed I would presume they will be backfilled with concrete on top also bringing up to DPC then dpm, insulation etc
Any advice would be of great help
