My garden backs onto a bridge which has a steep slope leading to a high ground just above my garden. That's to say, my garden is low down. I am thinking of levelling the high bank of soil/hardcore, to my garden level. Before I do that, I want to secure the steep slope just below the bridge. There are few small Sycamore trees. The roots of these should stop the soil from washing down in the rain. I hope to have a mini digger to push excess soil against the steep slope. Is there anything I need to do to secure this area before I level the area? View media item 59685 View media item 59686

this may well be a more serious undertaking than you imagine.

Do you wish to build a retaining wall at your garden level?

Is there any major run-off from the above. and is it a road railway or what?

Also how much of the land do you own?

A photo from further back and one from the side would help too.
