Im covering my chipboard floor boards with 12mm ply, on top of this will be underfloor heating, adhesive, and 6mm floor tiles. which will take me to around the 20mm in step mark from tile to carpet, which is quite a difference. Can anyone suggest how to go about this transition in the neatest possible way without seeing a big difference. Just looking for someone with a bit of experience to give me a few pointers. Cheers

use 6mm hardie backerboard to overlay instead of the 12 mm ply, what size trowel are you going to use ?

if you are using 12mm ply, ufh, adhesive and a 6mm tile you are definately going to be over 20mm in thickness. why not just cut your chipboard floor out and replace with 20mm wpb ply, eliminating the step altogether
