Hi all,

I'm digging the foundations for my new extension. The foundations are to be stepped by 225mm at the junction with the existing founds. When it comes to shuttering for the steps how is it done? What prevents the concrete running into the lower level?

TIA

Are you having it poured (readymix) or mixing yourself.

It is possible to peg back a shutterboard and lay stiffer conc' to prevent slump.

Otherwise, when we are laying large volumes of wet muck then we would shutter completely to the ground and feed re-bar through the shuttering to link the two together.
