Renovating the shower. Plaster fallen off to leave a brick wall. Want to use nice water proof Aquapanel concrete panel boards on the brick and am wondering if dry wall adhesive will stick the boards onto the brick OK.

Thanks a lot.

yes it will be ok, but;

you will need to supplement the adhesive with some mechanical fixings once the drywall adhesive has set.

Ok thanks. I had thought of that, so will make sure I screw it to brickwork THROUGH the dabs.

The bricks are dusty, no matter how much I brush they seem to stay so. If I PVA the surface, will the drywall adhesive still stick to it?

you can always mix the pva with water and add a bit of sand to it, just gives it that bit extra to bond to! you can buy special stuff but its about 50 quid a tub! so sand is alway good, not a plasterer but worked with a few.

Ok thanks. I did wonder about a quick spray with the shower head. Don't want to soak the bricks though. Does drywall adh. need very dry bricks or is damp OK?

drywall adhesive is a very dense material when mixed and is comparatively slow curing.

there is very little shrinkage.

regardless, we always soak the wall with water prior to dabbing.

a shower spray attachment to a hose is ideal.
