afternoon all

quick question as i couldn't find anything in the archives....

anyone know of any product(s) out there that'll stop efflorescence?? we have a couple of damp patches that are continually generating efflorescence and i just can't seem to hide it (the wall affected is about 1 -> 2 meters underground so sorting out the damp is not an option)

thanks in advance :)

Whatever you do...as Moz says you must sort the damp first...you must get it at its source, damp paint is good for holding back some damp...but only if it has bene cured from source,

As for paints to stop the effloresence...you want a small tin of Alkali (which is more or less what effloresence is) resisting primer...brush off the crystals with a stiff brush and give the area two or three coats..making sure you overlap the perimeter of the affected area by 3/4 inches.
