I took some upstairs walls out of my early 1900 built terraced house some years ago. The wall panels were around 3 inches thick and to me looked as if they had been poured in a mould, they had a solid plaster construction with straw embedded inside.
They were very heavy and interlocked together similar to tongue and groove, they took a decent rawl plug and screw and had radiators hung on them for many years.
