Can some kind person tell me how I know whether the whole bulb or just the starter on my striplight needs replacing ?

When switched on - there's a flickering light either end of the tube and a buzzing sound !?

Am totally ignorant about electrics.
Thanks.

If one or both ends of the tube are blackened / glowing orange the tube needs changing. If the two ends are glowing white the starter needs changing.

Its good practice to change the starter and tube together.

Oh - Thank you so much Rich.

Slight blackening either end - so shall replace both as you suggest.
