Hello, Can anybody advise on a way to remove old stain/or paint? from garden decking. I have a new section of decking jointed to the old, which is now all newly stained with cuprinol deck stain.

I wish to get the old boards back to as close as original as I can, so as I can get the two half’s as close a match as possible.

Thanks in advance.

It's a difficult job, decking is treated and most stains I have tried break up in the rain as they do not adhere to the surface well, I cleaned mine with a pressure washer and wire brush and now only apply decking oil which does not affect the colour.

if you can find a way let me know. decking stain is a nightmare as in some places it adheres like poo to a blanket and others it peels off easily. weve tried pressure washers, floor scrubbers, etc etc etc without good sucess on clients decks.

moral of the story only ever oil, stains are useless.
